Personal Background
I first became interested in computers in first grade, when I began programming in Basic on Apple machines at school. My parents then bought me a Radio Shack Tandy TRS-80 to tinker with at home. After I had mastered the Tandy, my parents bought me a 286, top-of-the-line machine. After several upgrades, I was ready to graduate high school. I enlisted in the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class and my specialty was Computers.
I have been writing web pages since 1996, when I first became interested in the internet. My first experience with actually USING the internet, instead of just installing browsers on customers' machines was when I was stationed in Bosnia. I was teaching my sergeant how to use Yahoo! to find information on the "web". I was absentmindedly clicking on various sections of the site that I happen to be interested in: Arts & Humanities, Humanities, History...and then the word "Genealogy" popped off the page at me. I was so excited that I turned to my sergeant and asked him to find a different computer! I was so scared that I would never find it again! I have since mastered the art of searching the internet for information.
I began writing websites for genealogical purposes. I then began writing a personal website with photos and news that my family in America could read and know how I was doing. I moved back to America in June 2001 and relocated in August 2001 to the greater-Dayton, Ohio area. I worked as a consultant for various companies while attending college.
Currently, I own over 25 domain names and maintain over 30 websites for family, friends, volunteer projects, and clients - including several e-commerce sites with online shopping carts. I have become a webhost, a domain reseller, and a web developer.
I generally cater to small businesses and organizations that require a quick solution that is simple to maintain with little expense and requires little training. That is why some of the projects in my portfolio are fairly simple and similar. This is not a portfolio of my abilities, merely that of what my clients have requested. I have been involved in several very large projects for many large organizations.
I am still an avid genealogist and volunteer my talents for my hobby. I am very active in my childrens' educations and have the current honor of being an elementary school PTO President, working with some amazing parents and staff!
Somehow I manage to squeeze in time to continue attending college to keep my skills updated. All of that is on top of being a full-time "mom"/"housewife", PTO President at my son's school (see the Medlar View PTO site on the left), starting a SECOND full-time small business Click to that site for more information, caring for my 7-yr-old son, my recently diagnosed Epileptic/Bi-Polar husband, my 16-yr-old troubled cousin who we have been awarded legal guardianship over and we treat as our "daughter", 1 puppy, 2 cats, and a rabbit.
Portfolio
You may view my links at the left to view the pages in my portfolio. These sites are LIVE sites, so please do not make any "test" orders or create any "test" accounts.
If you want to log in to a site to view it in its entirety, please email me for a login and password with the URL of the site you wish to log in to.
Be aware that I am posting my most recent projects and, therefore, some of the sites are currently being updated, revamped, setup, or in various states of "construction".
The sites listed in my portfolio to the left are merely a sampling of my most recent works that I am permitted to advertise. I have MANY other sites that I maintain on a constant basis and many more that I have long since completed and no longer maintain.
The only one posted to the left that I am not CURRENTLY maintaining is the "Bamberg, Germany NSC". However, the current manager ("Chief") was my supervisor while I was there and the English-speaking German staff has not changed much. They can answer any questions as to my value as an employee. I left the Bamberg NSC in June 2001.
